What Is a Tiara Wedding Band?
A tiara wedding band has a raised, crown-shaped edge that curves round the stone. Ours is 2.10 mm wide and set with 0.26 ct of lab-grown diamonds.
A tiara wedding band is a diamond-set wedding ring with a raised, crown-shaped top edge: the centre of the band rises into a peak or a row of small arches, like the front of a tiara. It is also called a crown band. The raised part curves around the engagement ring’s stone, and our own tiara band carries 0.26 carat of small round diamonds.
What does a tiara wedding band look like?
A tiara wedding band looks like a slim band whose front section lifts into a crown, with small diamonds set along the raised edge so they catch the light from above. The back is usually plain metal. Our round cut tiara band is 2.10 mm wide and 1.70 mm thick, set with round lab-grown diamonds totalling 0.26 ct, delicate enough to wear daily beside an engagement ring.
That band is our Tiara Round Cut Wedding Band. For the V-shaped alternative, see what a chevron wedding band is.
Which engagement rings does a tiara wedding band suit?
A tiara wedding band suits engagement rings with one raised centre stone, such as a round, oval or pear solitaire, because the crown of the band rises to frame the stone from below. Pear and marquise stones suit it especially well. A tiara band is a harder match for a wide halo or a very low rubover setting, where the head leaves little room for the 2 mm or so of raised band.
For more pear options, see our guide to which wedding band goes with a pear ring.
Which bands look like a tiara band but are not one?
A tiara band differs from a chevron or curved band in the shape of its raised section. A chevron band rises to one single V-shaped point, a curved band dips in one smooth arc, and a tiara band rises into a crown of several small points or arches. All three exist to close the gap a straight band leaves beside a raised stone, and each one can carry 1 or 2 rows of diamonds.
The table sets the three shapes side by side, because the profile decides which engagement ring the band suits.
| Band | Shape of the raised part | Best with |
|---|---|---|
| Tiara or crown | Several small points or arches | Round, oval or pear solitaires |
| Chevron | One V-shaped point | Pear and marquise stones |
| Curved | One smooth dip | Most raised centre stones |

Does a tiara wedding band sit flush with an engagement ring?
A tiara wedding band sits flush with an engagement ring when the crown is shaped to that ring, which is why tiara bands are so often sold as part of a matched bridal set. Bought separately, the points may not line up with the stone, leaving a gap of 1 mm or more. Bring your engagement ring when you choose.

How much does a tiara wedding band cost?
A tiara wedding band from us costs £707 at the time of writing for the round cut band on its own. Our Tiara Pear Cut Bridal Set in Platinum, with a 1 to 3 ct pear engagement ring and a matching tiara band, is £999. All these prices are for lab-grown diamonds; we do not sell natural, so we quote no natural price.
The Curved Pear Cut Bridal Set, also £999, pairs a pear ring with a curved crown band. More sets are in our bridal set collection. CarbonstoneUK, in North Harrow, London, includes a free IGI certificate on every centre stone.
Frequently asked questions
Is a tiara band the same as a crown wedding band?
Yes. Tiara band and crown band are two names for the same design: a wedding band whose front rises into several small points or arches. Some jewellers use “coronet” as well. A band that rises to just 1 V-shaped point is a chevron instead, and a band with a single smooth dip is a curved band.
Can you wear a tiara wedding band on its own?
Yes. A tiara wedding band looks finished on its own, because the raised diamond-set crown reads as a design rather than a gap waiting to be filled. Many people wear it alone when the engagement ring is off, or stack it with a plain band of about 2 mm.
Can a tiara wedding band be resized?
Yes, usually by a small amount. A tiara band with a plain back can typically be resized by about one or two sizes, because the jeweller works on the plain metal away from the stones. Larger changes can distort the crown or loosen stones, so get your size right first.
Does a tiara band suit a halo engagement ring?
No, not usually. A halo makes the head of the engagement ring wide and round, so the points of a tiara band tend to meet the halo rather than tuck around it. A straight or curved band of about 1.5 to 2 mm is the safer pairing, unless the tiara band is made to match that halo.
Which metal is best for a tiara wedding band?
The best metal for a tiara wedding band is the same metal as your engagement ring, so the two wear and colour at the same rate. Platinum 950 is the hardest-wearing choice for thin raised points; 18ct gold is lighter and slightly cheaper. Our tiara bridal set is made in platinum.
Is a tiara wedding band comfortable for everyday wear?
Yes. A tiara wedding band is comfortable for everyday wear, because the raised crown faces the engagement ring rather than the next finger, and the rest of the band is slim and smooth. Ours is 1.70 mm thick. Have the small claws on the crown checked every 6 to 12 months.
